Dr. Fahima Mustanzid is a student at the University of Edinburgh who is currently studying Family Medicine. There is one value that I have observed in her which I strongly admire. She is a creative physician -- and this virtue has earned her a place in AB, Calgary. Out of creativity, she started the Creative Thinking School Inc. where children have an opportunity to gain values, skills and attributes that are inculcated in them by dedicated teachers. The uniqueness with the school is that it accommodates both neurotypical and neurodivergent children and these two groups have a chance to receive education in a tutor centered framework. The link to the school can be found here https://creativethinkingschool.ca/#about

Dr. Fahima is also planning to have a multicultural event in Calgary, Canada on May 19th 2024 that will bring together two cultures - the Canadian and Bangladesh cultures. This kind of creativity gives her the credit of a Five Star Family Doctor. Details on the event can be found here https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=783674713785255&set=a.455319999954063

Recently, Dr. Fahima invited me to talk about Emotional Intelligence (EI) in children. The topic was Role Modelling and Emotional Optimism (RoMEO). I realized that there was so much sharing of knowledge when we had a live discussion on Facebook, thanks to Rushda Rubaia who was the host for that event. You may want to follow the conversation here https://www.facebook.com/100064281994837/videos/24799882066294384

In a world full of complex needs, the role of Family Medicine is undoubtedly fundamental. The approach that Dr. Fahima is using in Calgary to promote culture as well as nurture children to be great future leaders is part of the primary care component within the Family Medicine model of care.
